Description
Jan Poynter is a professional artist, illustrator and instructor from the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia, Canada. Jan’s outstanding conceptual rendering abilities have contributed to her fine art and commercial career with expertise in watercolor and acrylic painting, pastel, and traditional scratchboard. With over 30 years teaching experience Jan shares with her students all her knowledge and energetic joy in creative expression.
Jan Poynter majored in Painting and Printmaking at the Vancouver School of Art and continued in Art Education at the University of British Columbia. Professional artist & illustrator Jan’s work has been used for corporate, advertising, publishing, giftware and commissioned projects.
Jan work has exhibited in galleries since 1979 and been purchased for international, corporate & private collections. Her representational subjects range from floral & interior composition, to urban landscape & figurative studies. Jan works expertly in Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil & Pastel, is a printmaker, plein air and digital artist. From her home studio/gallery in Granthams Landing Jan teaches fine art programs for Capilano Uni – Cont Ed and offers classes, workshops, art retreats and a plein air festival.
