Biography

"A nomadic life has taken me from the jungles of Borneo to the houseboats of Kashmir and from the Great Barrier Reef to the Beaufort Sea. However it is the Yukon Territory, a place with enough wilderness to find great inspiration and peace, which has been home since 1984.

My work examines our connection to place and the natural world. Past careers as a biologist and wilderness adventure guide in the Yukon Territory, Canada have augmented and contributed to my artistic practice and taken me to remote wild spaces. I am a keen observer and collector of objects and fascinated by the complex intricacy and interdependence of ecosystems and all living beings.

I am a printmaker but my art practice includes a range of other media. I’ve been commissioned to create 3 large scale permanent pieces in Whitehorse : “Winging North” at the Canada Games Centre, River Walk at Shipyards Park and The Magic of Libraries, at the Public Library. The image of my painting “Swans” was made into a carpet for the Yukon Room for the Canadian Embassy in Trafalgar Square, London. I have been invited to exhibit work and participate in projects in Europe, the UK, Russia, the USA and Mexico. I work from my own Tuktu Studio, just outside of Whitehorse."
