Biography
Liz de Beer grew up in South Africa, attended the East London Technical College in South Aftrica and earned her BFA in graphics and ceramics. In 1997 she immigrated to Canada with her husband and children. Liz started teaching at The Seymour Art Gallery in Deep Cove, and by the end of 1998 she was working as an instructor at every Recreation Center on the North Shore. In September 1999 the Parkgate Community Center in North Vancouver was opened and she was appointed as Studio Manager. The arts program has been developed under her guidance into one of the best studios that is available to the public.
In 2006 the family moved to the Sunshine Coast and Liz set up her Klaywerk Studio in Langdale, however she continues to teach at Parkgate weekdays. Liz has made a few teaching videos and belongs to the community of Citizens of Craft. She exhibited and sold at the Gallery of BC Ceramics and CraftHouse, and her work can now be found at Circle Craft Co-op.
