Biography
Maureen Wright began her career in clay in 1971. She joined Clayworks Society in 1975-1984. She and partner, Brad McFadyen started their own studio, Western Ceramic in 1984 - 1991. She sold through the Pot Shoppe in Vancouver. Her work was selected for the 1976 National Ceramics Exhibition in Calgary, and later in Victoria at the Canadian Impressions Gallery.
In 1991 Maureen started teaching at the West Point Grey Community Centre, known also a Aberthau, until her death in 1997.
She was a beloved teacher and Brad established a bursary in her name to specifically assist potters in upgrading their skills through attending workshops. The bursary continues today managed by the North-West Ceramics Foundation .
