Biography
American born Barbara Tipton, is well known for her deconstructions - with extraordinary surfaces, her functional ware with slip-trailing, and as an editor, writer, and educator. she achieved her BFA and MFA in USA and she worked in several editorial positions for Ceramics Monthly. She has taught or run workshops and exhibited throughout Canada, the States, in the UK and in S.Korea.
In 1986 she moved to Calgary with husband, British ceramicist, John Chalke.
She taught at the Alberta College of Art and Design, and was editor 1992-95 of the Alberta Potters Association magazine, Contacts. Sadly now defunct.

In 2020 Barbara moved to Saltspring Island and has set up a new studio there.
