Biography
Gisela Kaempffler was a long time member of the Potters Guild of BC. She and her professor husband immigrated to Vancouver in 1950 from Germany, and settled in UBC. She attended many of the classes that Olea Davis organized, at the UBC Ceramic huts.
In the 1970's and 1980's Gisela participated in the 'Women's League of Health and Beauty',and was honoured to perform at both the Royal Albert Hall and at EXPO' 86.
She made functional ware and was known for her penquins. Her work was included in Retrospect 80, and she took the only existing images of that seminal exhibition. Gisela shared those images with the 50th Anniversary Committee in 2005 and they were copied into a book for the Transformations exhibition.
