Biography
American born, Cherie Markiewicz was a presence at the Pegs Place Pottery School from 1973-79, as a workshop member. She helped set up Almond Park Pottery which replaced Pegs Place as a studio. Cherie attended ECCAD in the mid 1980s and took the curatorial course that was briefly offered, along with Barb Gentle and Ron Kong who was later to become an important gallery manager and curator in Vancouver.
Cherie was a volunteer for the PGBC, and exhibited at the Gallery of BC Ceramics. She worked at the galleries for the PGBC , CCBC, the Canadian Craft Museum and at Circle Craft. She also made a successful line of cherry decorated majolica.
