Biography
Australian born, Graham Sheehan was included in Bob Kingsmill's 1977 Catalogue of British Coumbian Potters. Graham holds a civil engineering degree. (Dates and Uni unknown, UBC? ) In the Catalogue he referred to himself as a 'refugee civil engineer'. Before moving to Gabriola Graham did a short apprenticeship with Joseph Mikhalik.
By the mid-1970s he was living on Gabriola Island.
Graham worked as a maths and ceramics teacher for Vancouver Island University. He has been very active as an Islands Trust trustee, an artist, musician,and volunteer. In 2017 he was the recipient of the ARTY Award, as a contributor to the community of Gabriola Island.
Graham returned to his production pottery practice, now using wood fire and being an educator, has made a series of how-to videos since 2016. He sells from his studio and is another example of skilled 'village potter' serving a community.
