Biography
Montague Bridgman Ltd was a well-known china shop in downtown Victoria. Started by Bridgman around 1930, the company flourished until about 2000, well after Bridgman's death in 1951. The company was a magnet for American tourists seeking china by Wedgwood, Minton, Doulton and many other English makers.
Less known was the fact that Bridgman also made pottery and ceramic sculpture, starting in the mid-20s. He also taught pottery with Margaret Grute at the Victoria Pottery Club facility located in the old Kington Street School in the 1930s.
He may have received some pottery training in England in the early 1920s.
