Biography

Keith Rice-Jones was trained in the UK in the Arts and Crafts Tradition, first in wood, attending the Longborough Training College in the UK. He is known for his powerful large scale geometric clay sculptures. Keith achieved his Degree in Education at the University of BC, and a Masters of Education from the Western Washington University. He taught at Simon Fraser University and retired from teaching in 1999 to work full time at his studio.
He took up ceramics in the 1970s and quickly became involved with the Potters Guild of BC, as board member, then President, and a long-time member of the Gallery Committee. Later he served on the NWCF Board. His work was exhibited at the House of Ceramics, and the Gallery of BC Ceramics.
In 1988 Keith and Celia Rice-Jones established the Wildrice Studio.
In 2006 he attended the Sturt Residency in Australia.
In 2017/18 he made "Ape Ware" for the movie set - Planet of the Apes.
Keith has exhibited at the Surrey Art Gallery, Burnaby art Gallery, Richmond Art Gallery, the Canadian Craft Museum, and in Japan, in Nagoa, and in Ginko.
