Biography
Lane Gordon Thorlaksson was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Moved to Vancouver, and attended St. Georges School in the 1960s.
Studied ceramics and attained a BFA at San Jose State University in California., studying with Dr. H Sanders and Dr. D. Fritz. He taught at Handicraft House 1973-74. In 1977 he opened the Gordon Thorlaksson School of Pottery.
After the Cultural Revolution in China, he was invited to go to China and teach ceramics there. He became known for his Chinese influenced forms, and for trying to raise the value of ceramics in BC to prices previously never attempted.
