Shirley Phillips first took classes at Malaspina College in Nanaimo and from 1994-2000 was studio assistant to Gordon Hutchens on Denman Island. she has participated in many group shows through out the Islands, and opened Lilac Sun Pottery on Denman Island in 2000 , where she smoke ,wood or electric fires her work.
