Biography

Darcy Margesson is a respected production potter in BC, known for his richly coloured earthen-slipware, fluid use of sgrafitto and slip trailing.
After 3 years of study at UBC, Darcy traveled, and upon return he took pottery classes at Burnaby Arts Centre (Now Shadbolt Centre for the Arts). He spent a year at the University of Montana and studied with the famed American ceramicist, Rudy Autio. He studied ceramics at the Alberta College of Art for 4 years and returned to Vancouver in 1985.
Darcy's enticing earthenware pottery can be found at many craft fairs, and he sold through the Gallery of BC Ceramics and at Circle Craft Co-op.
Darcy has been a knowledgeable teacher of glaze chemistry at ECUAD, and designed an excellent red-bodied lowfire but sturdy clay - Darcy Redart - produced by Tacoma Clay. He has been referred to as Dr. Darcy - generously sharing his knowledge of ceramic technology.
