Biography

Sarah Lawless was born in Brockville, Ontario. In 2006, She received a three-year diploma in Craft & Design from Kootenay School of the Arts. Her teachers: Pamela Nagley Stevenson, David Lawson, Gary Graham. In 2004 she apprenticed with Wayne Ngan for a summer.
Sarah has a studio in Kaslo and is active in central BC. She makes porcelain functional ware with soft matte glazes.
In 2008 she was awarded the BC Creative Achievement Carter Wosk Award for applied art and design.
In 2012 she was nominated for the RBC Emerging Artist People's Choice Award at the Gardiner Museum,Toronto
In 2020 supported by the BC Arts Council & Kootenay Columbia Alliance Sarah has been working on a project called ‘Smoked’ making hand-built burnished organic forms for pit-firing.
