Biography
Anyuta Gustakova was born in Vladivostock, Russia. She attended Far Eastern State University, in the mid 1980s, and took a three-year designer course at a porcelain factory in Vladivostok. She took her MFA at the Academy of Art and Design in Moscow in sculpture, and then studied at Une Oeuvre de Faience, Brest, France.
Anyuta immigrated to Canada in 2008. She sold through the Gallery of BC Ceramics, and sells through Craft House in Vancouver.
She is known for her whimsical expertly slip-cast figures, which she says comes from the multi- cultural influences in Vladivostok being so close to Japan and China.
