Biography
Elspeth Baird came to Vancouver from Ontario in 1975. She had worked in props/ production in the television industry in Ontario but had also received some training in pottery. (Sheridan?)
From 1975 and until 1979 she worked as an indispensable assistant manager at Peg’s Place Pottery School for Debra Sloan. Elspeth, Elinor Vassar and Debra were invited to exhibit “Three New Potters” at the House of Ceramics in 1976. Elspeth also served on the Board of the Potters Guild of BC.
There was much to be learned from Elspeth’s work ethic, efficiency and organizational abilities, and she threw simple clean-lined functional pots. In 1979/80 she moved to Australia, where she once again has engaged in the television/film industry
