Description
Cartwright was in the first pottery class ever held in BC, conducted by Mary Young, at Summerland in March, 1923. In 1924 she likely exhibited her pottery with other potter members of the Summerland Women's Institute at an exhibition of BC home craft products at the CNE in Toronto. That same year she likely exhibited with other Summerland potters at the annual exhibition of the Island Arts and Crafts Society in Victoria, Oct 1924.
In 1925 she taught night school pottery with well-known Summerland potter Doris Cordy and was on the executive of the Summerland branch of the BC Art League.
Cartwright was on the executive committee of the Canadian Handicrafts Guild (BC Branch) immediately after its formation in 1928.
